Rangers Claim 6-4 Triumph
|
The Texas Rangers knocked off the Seattle Mariners, 6-4, in American League action at T-Mobile Park. Texas pitcher and Clinton, Michigan, native Alan Payne had an outstanding performance. Payne got the win, improving to 15-2. He gave up 4 hits and walked 3 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 3 runs. The setback makes Seattle 68-82.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Chris Scanlon? The Texas first baseman had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning to put the Rangers on top, 2-0. For the game, Scanlon had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I thought we competed really well," said Rangers manager Mike KC. "I thought the energy was really good."
