Behind the hitting of Phil Halliday, the New York Mets stopped the Washington Nationals, 9-2. Halliday went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 for the Mets. The winner was Joey Lott in relief. His record improves to 6-3. Josh Morse took the loss. The defeat makes Washington 80-66.

In the top of the second, the Mets took the lead, 2-0, when 22-year old left fielder Steve Boswell grounded out, driving in 1 run.
