Red Sox Clip White Sox, 5-4
|
Andy Ulrich had a good game, but he could not keep the Chicago White Sox from falling, 5-4, to the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. The Chicago first baseman was 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once in the loss. Tommy Donohue picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 5-7. Jon Soto suffered the loss. Boston has now won 3 straight, while the White Sox have lost 3 in a row.
Boston took a 5-4 lead on Fernão Ares's 35th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Ares hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Chicago pitcher Jon Soto visibly frustrated.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Boston manager Craig Harris.
