Yankees Roll to 8-2 Win Over Tigers
The New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers completed their game despite the inclement weather.

The New York Yankees and starting pitcher Steve Gaspard stifled the Detroit offense en route to a comfortable 8-2 win at Yankee Stadium. The winner was Gaspard. He threw 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Jeremy Ports.

New York got a lift in the bottom of the first from left fielder Allen Foriest, who hit a curveball to left for a 2-run home run. His 30th home run of the season put the Yankees up, 2-0.

"We'll need a much better effort, the next time out," said losing manager Tim Bingham.

New York is now 67-72, Detroit 87-52.
