Extra-Inning Walk-Off Win for Reds
|
The Cincinnati Reds had to overcome a fine effort from San Francisco pitcher Chris Hamer to win, 5-4, in 11 innings at Great American Ball Park. Hamer went 6 innings and allowed no runs. Cincinnati, at 89-45, sits in first place in the National League Central Division.
The Reds relied on catcher Steve Esparza for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 11th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.
"Our guys refused to lose," said Esparza.
