Pirates Win at Texas, 4-1

The Pittsburgh Pirates downed the Texas Rangers, 4-1, at Globe Life Field. Stellar pitching by J.D. Mears had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 6th in the NL with a 9.9 K/9 rate, handcuffed his opponent all game. Mike Romero picked up the save for Pittsburgh, his 16th of the year. At 57-69, the Pirates are currently 4th in the National League Central Division.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Steve Law? The top prospect Law stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put Pittsburgh up, 4-1. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 2 doubles and 1 single.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Texas skipper Mike KC, "and it cost us."
