Meacham Rips 2 Homers in 7-1 Win
|
Tim Meacham was instrumental in his team's 7-1 triumph over the New York Yankees. The center fielder went 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Houston Astros. The winner in relief was Willie Arias. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 5-3. Alex Avila got the save, the 2nd for him this season.
In the top of the first, Chris Jokela ambushed a 0-1 sinker from Mike Turley and hit a 2-run home run. It gave Houston a quick 2-0 lead.
Said losing manager Creig S: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
Houston, with the win, climbs to 36-80.
