Cubs Lose to Twins, 5-4
The Minnesota Twins knocked off the Chicago Cubs, 5-4, in American League action at Wrigley Field. Minnesota pitcher and Maywood, Illinois, native Dave Gerold had an outstanding performance. Picking up the save was Chris White. He's now 25 for 32 in save chances. With the win, Minnesota pushed its record to 57-55.

Minnesota first baseman Dave Nichols contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a knuckleball to left-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 102nd hit of the season and put the Twins ahead, 5-2.

"It never gets old," said Gerold. "Winning, that is."
