Cleveland Nets 3-2 Win Versus Phillies
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Cleveland Indians and the Philadelphia Phillies, pitcher Tim Saldana was the difference between victory and defeat. The Cleveland right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Indians win. Adan Van Natter picked up the win in relief for Cleveland, while Jimmy Humphries took the loss. With this game in the books, Cleveland is 50-57, Philadelphia 42-63.
Cleveland used a clutch hit from Mike Barker to get the win. The second baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Indians ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
After the game, Cleveland manager Bob Baitzel applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
