Indians Drop Royals, 7-5

The Cleveland Indians topped the Kansas City Royals, 7-5, in American League action at Progressive Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Cleveland shortstop Dan Sievers. Jim Hegedus picked up the win, improving his season record to 10-6. He struck out 2 in 7 innings. David Alicea recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 20 for 23.
The Indians got a big at-bat from catcher Antonio Gomez. For the game, Gomez was 1-3 with a triple and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Cleveland a 3-1 lead.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Gomez said after the game.
Cleveland occupies third place in the American League Central Division at 51-49.
