Red Sox Clip Stars, 1-0
|
The Nashville Stars wasted an inspired, 6.1-inning effort from starter Jonathan Katzel, falling, 1-0, to the Boston Red Sox at Dave Hammertime Stadium. Josh Estep was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 16 of 18 save opportunities. The Red Sox sport a record of 38-60.
Randy Gauer, who is tied for 10th in the AL in bases on balls with 52, took Nashville hurler Jonathan Katzel deep in the top of the sixth. His solo home run put the Red Sox on top, 1-0. In all, Gauer had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Nashville manager Dave Hammertime.
