Nationals Net 6-4 Win Over Braves
|
The timely hitting of Ted Kagan helped the Washington Nationals down the Atlanta Braves, 6-4. Kagan was 2-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times for the Nationals. Mark Williams came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. His record now stands at 3-3. Washington is now 46-47, while Atlanta is 41-52.
Dan Von Bergen's at-bat in the top of the sixth was significant, coming with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the game tied, 3-3. The Washington catcher hit a run-scoring single off Danny Bovino to put the Nationals up.
"We had situations where we should have got some runs in, but we didn't get the runs in," said losing manager Byron Kemp.
