White Sox Lose Late, 3-1
|
The New York Yankees had to overcome a fine performance from Chicago pitcher Joe McFarland to grab a 3-1 win at Comiskey Park. McFarland allowed no runs over 6 innings. Mike Nedved came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 2-0. The win makes New York 41-48.
New York used the clutch hitting of Jake Morsette to capture the win. The left fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Yankees ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
Afterward, Yankees manager Creig S was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
