Texas Wins, Douglass hits 16th home run
|
The Texas Rangers used the hitting of left fielder Jonathan Douglass to subdue the San Diego Padres, 6-3. For the game, Douglass went 2-2 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Mike Morris earned the win for Texas. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 6. With the win, he raised his record to 5-7. The third-place Rangers now have a win-loss record of 40-47.
With Texas leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Douglass hit a fastball from Pete Mudry for a solo home run. It was his 16th home run of the season and put the Rangers ahead, 2-0.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said San Diego manager Jason X. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
