Indians Deal Royals 6-4 Loss
|
The rain came, as predicted, but the Cleveland Indians and Kansas City Royals were able to complete their ballgame.
Beau Martin left his imprint on the 6-4 Cleveland win against the Kansas City Royals. Martin, the 4th overall pick in the 2035 draft, went 2-3 with 2 home runs. Jim Burke, the winning pitcher, is now 1-0. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits, while fanning 0 and walking 3. Tim Dedes collected his 13th save.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the top of the sixth inning. That's when center fielder Pat Steere, who finished 3rd in the AL in on-base percentage with .394 in 2040, hit a double. The Indians went on to win.
Cleveland manager Bob Baitzel commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
Cleveland goes to 36-46, Kansas City to 50-35.
