Brewers Pick Up 4-0 Win Over Washington
|
The Washington Nationals and Milwaukee Brewers were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Washington got a terrific performance from pitcher Josh Shortall, but it wasn't enough to beat the Milwaukee Brewers. Milwaukee won the Nationals Park contest, 4-0. Shortall threw 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. With the win, Milwaukee raised its record to 43-31.
Milwaukee relied on the hitting of Cahyono Layar to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the third inning to put the Brewers on top, 2-0. For the game, Layar had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Bottom line," said Washington skipper Kadin X, "we didn't play well enough to win."
