Hit Parade: Vega Pops 5 Hits
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-6 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Luis Vega, it came around today.

The 24-year-old shortstop scattered hits all over NYSEG Stadium to pace the 12-1 Erie SeaWolves victory over the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.

Binghamton skipper Onil Joseph told reporters in the press room that "Vega deserves a hat-tip."

"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Vega hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."

Luis Vega singled in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Kevin Medina in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

This year, Vega has batted at a .449 pace with 44 hits, 11 home runs, 26 RBIs and scored 30 times.
