The Williamsport Crosscutters triumphed 4-3 over the Norwich Sea Unicorns at Bowman Field in the Round 1 to capture it 3-1.

The victory advanced the Crosscutters to the Round 2.

For his superb play in the series, Crosscutters center fielder Phil Voci garnered the series MVP trophy, hitting .421, scoring 4 runs and batting in 5.

"Only thing better than getting MVP for winning in the playoffs would be winning MVP for winning in the Round 2," Voci said later. "I'll get to work on that."

The Williamsport Crosscutters don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Lowell Spinners - Staten Island Yankees series. Staten Island leads the series 2 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
