Braves Prevail, as Round 1 Goes to the Wire
The Rome Braves and Charleston RiverDogs didn't hold back anything in the Round 1, with each team pulling out all the stops in an effort to advance to the Round 2.

Rome won the final game by a score of 6-5 at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park and that concluded the series, 3-2.

"Relief is the biggest thing," Rome catcher Jarrod Shimota said when asked how he felt. "It's a grind both mentally and physically to have a long series like this, but our guys stuck with it and Charleston deserves credit for the hard fight."

Shimota paced the Rome offence and earned MVP honors. For the series, he hit .450 with a .450 on-base percentage, 0 home runs, 2 RBI and scored 1 runs.

The Rome Braves will play against the Lakewood BlueClaws in the next round. Lakewood won their series against the Delmarva Shorebirds 3 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
