Padres Deal Nationals 6-4 Loss
|
The San Diego Padres racked up a win at Nationals Park, bumping off the Washington Nationals, 6-4. Andy Driscoll, who started for San Diego, pitched effectively for his team. Driscoll, now 3-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 4 runs. Dan Cox recorded the save for San Diego, his 7th of the season.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Adrian Flores? The San Diego first baseman had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to put the Padres on top, 5-3. For the game, Flores had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"We'll sip on a cold one and savor this win," said Flores.
The last-place Padres improved to 23-25.
