Taylor 5-for-5 Against Indians
|
After a 5-hit effort to lead Hillsboro's 7-1 victory over the Spokane Indians, shortstop Mike Taylor told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Northwest League-level is really something special."
The 22-year-old player earned his accolades at Avista Stadium with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Indians.
"His swing is getting there," said Hops skipper Shannon Wilkerson, who spoke glowingly of Taylor after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Mike did that to perfection."
Mike Taylor tripled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run double in the 6th and doubled in the 8th.
So far this year, Taylor is batting .393 with 1 home run, 17 RBIs and 24 runs scored.
