Yankees Lose By a Run at Philadelphia
|
Starting pitcher Eddie Rini gave the Philadelphia Phillies a rock-solid effort. The Lynwood, California native helped his team defeat the New York Yankees, 3-2, at Citizens Bank Park. Jimmy Stanley earned the save for Philadelphia, his 6th of the year. Philadelphia bumps their record to 16-19 with the win.
The Yankees had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Phillies going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 30-year old shortstop Alex Catalan came to the plate. Catalan hit a 2-run home run on a 1-0 curveball from New York hurler Ronnie Thompson. It was Catalan's 4th home run of the year.
"That was a really good outing by Eddie," said Philadelphia manager Brandon M.
