Blue Jays Suffer 7-1 Road Loss

The Washington Nationals picked up a win at Nationals Park, dropping the Toronto Blue Jays, 7-1. Josh Shortall was the difference-maker. Shortall got the win, improving to 3-2. He gave up 5 hits and walked 2 over 7.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. With the win, Washington raised its record to 17-17.
The Nationals got a big hit from first baseman Ben Brandvold. Facing Toronto pitcher Joe Staker in the bottom of the sixth, Brandvold pounded a 3-run home run to left. His 4th home run of the season put the Nationals ahead, 7-0.
Brandvold said his team "played with focus."
