Houston Takes Division Series in Deciding Game Friday, October 11th , 2024 The Houston Astros are heading to the League Championship Series, having narrowly defeated the Detroit Tigers. Houston edged Detroit in the series 3-2, with a win at Minute Maid Park in the clinching game by a 8-3 margin. Pedro Leon turned in a strong offensive performance for the Astros and got series MVP for his efforts. "I'll never turn down another trophy for my mantle, another accomplishment to remember once my career is over," he said. "What I would really remember, though, is a World Series win." It remains to be seen how the playoffs will conclude, but if Leon continues to swing a hot bat, his team will no doubt have a chance. For the series, he hit .368 with a .429 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, 5 RBI and scored 7 runs. The Houston Astros will play against the New York Yankees in the next round. New York won their series against the Baltimore Orioles 3 games to 0.
