Detroit Takes Wildcard Series in Deciding Game Thursday, October 3rd , 2024 In a series that had a little bit of everything, the Detroit Tigers have edged the Texas Rangers. The two rival clubs went the distance in the tightly-contested Wildcard Series, with a 11-3 win in the clincher being the difference for Detroit and giving them the ticket to the Division Series with a 2-1 series triumph. "We never stopped believing in ourselves. When push came to shove we were going to get it done," said Kerry Carpenter, who was named series MVP. For the series, Carpenter hit .545 with a .583 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 4 runs. The Detroit Tigers will play against the Houston Astros in the next round.
