Cardinals Cruise to Division Series with Sweep Wednesday, October 2nd , 2024 Many baseball pundits expected a close series in the National League Wildcard Series. It turned out quite a bit different. The St. Louis Cardinals swept aside the Arizona Diamondbacks to advance to the Division Series, winning the final game by a 4-0 score at Busch Stadium. The series MVP was left fielder Alec Burleson, who hit .500 with a .500 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 2 runs. "We expected this series to go right down to the wire, so to sweep is a bit of a surprise," he said. "But we'll take it." The St. Louis Cardinals will play against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the next round. Los Angeles had a bye in the Wildcard Series. The Division Series is scheduled to begin on October 4th , 2024.
