Brantley Gets Number 2000 Thursday, September 19th , 2024 Michael Brantley's bat made good contact with the ball as he has many times in his career, but this time it added his name to an elite list of players with 2000 hits. "This is a tremendous honor. You grow up dreaming of becoming a Major League Baseball player, but never did I ever think I would get to this point," an emotional Brantley said after the game. The Seattle left fielder went to the plate 2 times and racked up 1 hit to gain the honor. But the Mariners couldn't pull off a win -- they fell to the New York Yankees, 7-4. "It certainly would have been nice to have won, but tomorrow is another day. I'm going to enjoy this moment with my friends and family," Brantley said.
