San Diego Won't Make Playoffs Thursday, September 19th , 2024 It's now time for the San Diego Padres to start turning their attention to what can be done to help improve the club for next season. The team was formally eliminated from playoff contention today for the 2024 season. "We knew a title was a long shot at this point, but mentally there's a big difference between a tiny chance and no chance at all," said Padres starting pitcher Will Warren. The Padres have missed the playoffs 49 times in their 56 years as a Major League Baseball franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 2nd in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 2022. In the last 10 seasons, the Padres have missed the playoffs 8 times. |
