5 Hits for Cardinals Gorman
Tuesday, August 13th , 2024
After a 5-hit effort to lead St. Louis's 27-11 victory over the Cincinnati Reds, second baseman Nolan Gorman told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Major League Baseball-level is really something special."

The 24-year-old player earned his accolades today at Great American Ball Park with a spectacular 5-for-7 game against the Reds.

"His swing is getting there," said Cardinals skipper David Mendel, who spoke glowingly of Gorman after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Nolan did that to perfection today."

Nolan Gorman hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, flied out in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Elvis Andrus in the 7th and doubled in the 9th.

This season Gorman is batting .233 with 32 home runs. His totals include 77 RBIs and 65 runs scored.
