Kansas City Royals first baseman Garrett Fenton put on a dazzling display of power today at Comerica Park against the Detroit Tigers. In the 8-7 Royals victory Fenton penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.

"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Detroit manager Tim Dillard said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."

Along with his three home runs, the 28-year-old had 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored.

"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Fenton said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."

Garrett Fenton hit a solo-shot off Brad Soloway in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Brad Soloway in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, struck out in the 7th, struck out in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off Rodolfo Araiza in the 10th.

So far on the season Fenton is hitting .287 with 49 home runs, 115 RBIs and 93 runs scored. He has 163 hits and played in 155 games.
