Venegas Stretches Hit String to 25
Wednesday, September 29th , 2032
Cincinnati's 27-year-old first baseman Jorge Venegas is on a fine run at the plate. His consecutive-game hitting streak has reached 25 games, doing so today by going 1-for-4 against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The streak has brought a degree of attention that Venegas has often tried to deflect, talking about teammates' accomplishments rather than his own. After the Reds wrapped up their 7-4 triumph over Pittsburgh at Great American Ball Park today, he downplayed his part in the victory.

"I got 1 hit," he said. "My contributions were no more important than those from everyone else who played today."
Jorge Venegas flied out in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, doubled in the 6th and struck out in the 7th.

To date this season Venegas is hitting .273 with 39 home runs.
