Alonso Stars in 9-5 Mets Win
|
Pete Alonso made an impact in the 9-5 New York win over St. Louis. Alonso, who finished 3rd in the NL in RBI with 120 in 2019, hit 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Shawn Armstrong notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record now sits at 3-0. The loss lowers the St. Louis record to 13-15.
In the bottom of the eighth, Alonso put his team in front with his 9th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which came against Trevor Megill, made it 8-5, New York.
"Winning never gets old," said Alonso.
