Carlos Rodón was superb against Oakland. The left-hander, who led the AL in strikeouts with 287 last year, had a fastball that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Yankees victory. The score was 4-1. New York reliever Tyler Baum picked up the win to move to 2-0. Lou Trivino suffered the loss. New York sits at 15-11.
Austin Wells was the walk-off hero for New York. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Yankees left fielder hit a dramatic 3-run home run to send the teams home.
"This place was rocking at the end," Rodón said.
