New York Beats San Francisco, 3-2
|
The New York Mets topped the San Francisco Giants, 3-2, in National League action at Oracle Park. The standout performance belonged to New York pitcher and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, native Aaron Nola. The win gives New York a record of 14-9.
New York used the bat of Pete Alonso to get the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Mets ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"It was sure nice to get the win but there's a lot of baseball left," Alonso after the game.
