Royals Stick Guardians with 3-1 Loss
|
The Kansas City Royals beat the Cleveland Guardians, 3-1. Kansas City pitcher and Ellington, Connecticut, native Frank Mozzicato led the way. Mozzicato, now 3-2, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Victor Pena notched his 7th save of the season.
Carter Jensen had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the sixth for Kansas City. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Kansas City in front, 3-1.
Afterward, Royals manager Patrick Ochs was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
Cleveland is 8-14 after the defeat.
