Milwaukee and St. Louis played a hard-fought contest.
Milwaukee Brewers starter John Means was in fine form as he helped his team beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 3-1. Means went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 0, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-0. Devin Williams got credit for the save for Milwaukee. It was his 6th of the year.
Had Sal Frelick not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Frelick hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Brewers.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Frelick.
Now 8-12, the Cardinals have gotten off to a poor start.
