Alvarez slugs 2 home runs in Astros Win
Yordan Alvarez was the difference-maker for the Houston Astros in what turned into a shootout with the Chicago White Sox. Alvarez, who won the Most Valuable Player Award in 2024, went 4-for-6 in the 20-9 Astros win. The loss drops Chicago to 10-10.

Jacob Melton had a big 2-run double for the Astros in the top of the second inning. With Houston leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from McClain Ray, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2025 draft, and swatted a double to right. It was his 11th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Astros ahead, 3-0.

"It was one of those games where both teams were swinging the bat well," Melton said.
