Cardinals Improve to 6-4 with 7-6 Win
|
St. Louis center fielder Lars Nootbaar had a 3-RBI performance, which helped his team down the Miami Marlins, 7-6. Diego Castillo came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. Ryan Helsley collected save number 2.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the sixth, with the game tied, Nolan Arenado was at the plate when St. Louis scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Cardinals to go in front, 7-6.
"Winning is all that really matters and we got it done today," Arenado told the St. Louis Today.
The loss lowers the Miami record to 5-5.
