Yankees Top Blue Jays, 3-0, Behind Cole
|
New York Yankees starter Gerrit Cole pitched his team past the Toronto Blue Jays, 3-0. Clay Holmes sewed up the save, his 2nd. The win moves New York to a record of 4-4.
Cole, who dominated for New York, earned the victory to move to 1-0. He was in control the whole game, scattering 4 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 7. Toronto batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said New York manager Chris Monte.
