Big Day at the Plate for Contreras Not Enough for Brewers
William Contreras had a good game, but he could not keep the Milwaukee Brewers from falling, 14-10, to the St. Louis Cardinals at American Family Field. The Milwaukee catcher was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 in the loss. The win belonged to Trevor Megill in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Carlos Rodriguez took the loss for Milwaukee. Tanner Scott closed the game out for St. Louis, earning his 1st save.

Lars Nootbaar, who finished 4th in the NL in home runs with 35 last year, took Milwaukee hurler Victor Santos deep in the top of the fifth. His 3-run home run put the Cardinals on top, 11-8. In all, Nootbaar had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

Milwaukee manager Michael Jank said he was disappointed with the loss. "Whenever you score that many runs, you expect to win the game."

The win takes St. Louis to 3-3.
