Reds Snag 6-1 Win
|
The Cincinnati Reds beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 6-1, at Citizens Bank Park. Starting pitcher Jose Quintana was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. The winning pitcher was Quintana, now 1-0. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 4. Ricky Karcher, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
Cincinnati used the timely hitting of Spencer Steer to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Reds on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Feels good to get the job done," Steer said after the game.
Cincinnati, with the win, is 3-1.
