Washington Dismisses Cincinnati, 7-4
|
The Washington Nationals polished off the Cincinnati Reds by the score of 7-4. The largest share of the credit belonged to right fielder Dylan Crews. Crews was 2-5 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Nationals. Aldo Ramirez was the winner. Over 5.1 innings, he yielded 4 runs on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. The save was credited to David Bednar, his 1st.
Jonny DeLuca had a big 2-run home run for the Nationals in the top of the fourth inning. With Washington leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a sinker from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Chase Petty and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Nationals on top, 4-1.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," DeLuca told a Washington Chronicle reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
The win lifts Washington to a record of 1-2.
