The Chicago Cubs defeated the Miami Marlins in 10 innings, 6-5, in part because of designated hitter Owen Caissie. Caissie went 2 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Cubs. Ethan Roberts, who finished 4th in the NL in saves with 40 in 2026, picked up the win in relief. Yeuris Jimenez took the loss for Miami. Chicago goes to 1-1.

Pete Crow-Armstrong hit a run-scoring triple off Yeuris Jimenez in the top of the tenth, which put the Cubs in front, 6-5. In addition to the triple, Crow-Armstrong had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 4.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Chicago manager Paul Husch.
