Cardinals Top Dodgers, 7-1
|
Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Los Angeles Dodgers home opener. Dustin May started for the home team against Tink Hence for the St. Louis Cardinals. The Dodgers were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 7-1, St. Louis. Dustin May, though, was impressive. Reliever Ryan Helsley picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Evan Phillips took the loss.
Tommy Edman delivered a run-scoring double for St. Louis in the top of the 11th. The shortstop went 3 for 5 in the game, including 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and batted in 2.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said St. Louis manager David Mendel.
