Stott 3-4, Phillies Move to 100-61
|
Two good teams met in a late-season showdown.
Bryson Stott was a major factor in the 9-5 Philadelphia win over New York. The Phillies second baseman was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. The Phillies lead the National League East Division by 4½ games.
Philadelphia used the bat of Kyle Schwarber to get the win. The left fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Phillies ahead, 7-2. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"We're in the driver's seat," said Schwarber. "I like our chances."
