Royals Stumble, Lose to Braves
The Atlanta Braves beat the Kansas City Royals by a score of 8-4. Atlanta second baseman Vaughn Grissom deserved the lion's share of the credit. Grissom went 3-3 with 3 singles and a walk for the Braves. Jared Shuster, the winner, improved to 7-5. He held Kansas City to 4 runs on 5 hits over 5 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. The win boosted Atlanta to 84-76.

With the clubs tied 4-4 in the bottom of the fifth and runners on 1st and 2nd, Atlanta sent Grissom to the plate. He got a 2-1 slider and hit a run-scoring single, to put the Braves on top, 5-4.

"We take it day by day here," said Grissom, "and today was a good one for us."
