A good performance from shortstop Carlos Correa helped the Minnesota Twins defeat the Detroit Tigers, 13-1. Correa was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Twins. The winning pitcher was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Jack O'Connor. He tossed 91 pitches over 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits. The Twins got a big hit from first baseman Wilson Maldonado. Facing Detroit pitcher Marco Jimenez in the bottom of the seventh, Maldonado pounded a 3-run home run to right. His 46th home run of the season put the Twins ahead, 13-1.
