The Kansas City Royals trumped the Washington Nationals, 7-5, at Nationals Park. Kansas City left fielder Dairon Blanco was terrific. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs. The third-place Royals have won 4 consecutive games.

In the top of the seventh, with the bases empty, Blanco strode to the plate. He got a 1-2 fastball from Matt Cronin and hit a solo home run. The clutch hit put the Royals in front, 6-5.

"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Kansas City manager Patrick Ochs.
