The first-place Minnesota Twins picked up another win.

Detroit had no answer for Minnesota Twins starter Åke Piechnik, who flummoxed Tigers hitters as the Twins cruised to victory, 6-1. The Twins, at 99-59, have a comfortable 17-game lead in their division.

Emmanuel Rodriguez had a big 2-run double for the Twins in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Minnesota leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Dylan Smith, who is tied for 6th in the AL with a 3.17 ERA, and swatted a double to center. It was his 25th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Twins ahead, 3-0.

Said losing manager Snake Clement: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
