Royals Come Back Late to Top Nationals, 7-5
|
2024 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the Washington Nationals.
A good performance from first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino helped the Kansas City Royals defeat the Washington Nationals, 7-5. Pasquantino was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Royals. Dylan Lee earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 4-3.
Had Maikel Garcia not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Garcia hit a 2-run single. That made the score 7-5, in favor of the Royals.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Pasquantino said.
Kansas City has now won 3 in a row.
